Transforming the Retail Experience: The Role of Technology in Experiential Retail
Experiential retail is a fast growing trend and one that we’ll be showcasing at this year’s Retail Technology Show as we demonstrate how our technology, combined with immersive content is bringing the younger demographic back in-store post-pandemic. We’ve been working with retailers around the world who are eager to adopt new technologies as a means of transforming consumer engagement in-store and one way in particular that we’ve been doing this, is by getting smarter and more targeted with digital content through new technologies like lift and learn and proximity sensors.
Previously, these overly complex technologies would have come at a hefty cost for retailers, however we’ve developed a cost-effective, out-of-the-box solution that is simplifying the deployment of AV in retail, while completely transforming the user-journey with creative QR Code initiatives leading the way.
Lift and learn technology, for example, allows customers to interact with products in a new way - something we’ll be demonstrating at RTS in a few weeks time. Essentially, it involves placing products on a special platform that is equipped with sensors. When a customer picks up the product, the sensors detect its weight which then triggers the digital content to change - perhaps providing additional information about that particular product. An example might be, a customer picking up a jacket, who then might see information about the fabric, care instructions, and styling tips.
Proximity sensors, on the other hand, are used to detect when a customer is near a particular product or touchpoint - again, we’ll be demonstrating just how this works at RTS. This can trigger a series of actions, such as playing a video about the product or simply prompting the customer to interact with the screen. Proximity sensors can also be used to track customer behaviour and provide retailers with valuable data about how customers move through their stores.
Together, these technologies can help retailers to create a more immersive and personalised in-store experience for their customers and for us, it’s all about creating a new sense of discovery. By interacting with products in a new way, customers can feel more engaged, more connected with the brand and ultimately more invested in what the retailer has to offer. It all comes down to getting smarter and more targeted with digital content to help customers make more informed purchasing decisions and create a shopping experience they’re going to remember. Another big part of this is bridging the gap between their online and offline channels by providing customers with a consistent and cohesive brand experience across all touchpoints.
We’re focused on implementing technologies that allow for more targeted content, empowering brands to reach the right audience with the right message, at the right time. And by doing so, retailers can increase engagement, drive conversions, and ultimately, boost sales. Nexmosphere lift and learn, proximity sensors are just some of our latest solutions we’ll be showcasing at the Retail Technology Show on 26th and 27th April.
